All About The Cubes

All about the cubes

Bibs and Bowls baby food uses the “cube concept”. This means food purees are frozen into small ice cubes and packed into a resealable stand-up pouch.

The cube concept allows parents to first introduce each flavour on their own as well as the possibility to mix-and-match different flavours together making your own flavour combinations.

Advantages of using cubes?

Food Cubes….

  • Limit food wastage
  • Are easy to use
  • Are easy to heat
  • Are easy to store
  • Provide home-cooked meals in a matter of minutes
  • Contain no added sugar, no added salt and no added preservatives
  • Contain meat that is either free range or ethically sourced
  • Encourage texture progression
  • Vary from homemade purees to balanced meals
  • Allow you to make your own flavour combinations by combining different flavours together
  • Are easy for child-minders to use
  • Are a life-saver for weekends away

How do I use the cubes?

  • Defrost the desired number of cubes from the pouch.
  • Heat in a microwave or stove top until warm and allow to cool down.
  • If using a microwave, place cubes in a microwaveable container and heat in 10-second increments.
  • Make sure to stir the food to get rid of any hotspots.
  • Don’t reheat food more than once.
  • Test the temperature before feeding your baby.
  • Don’t save half-eaten food.

Which ranges come in cubes?

  • The puree range (6 months+)
  • The textured range (7 months+)
  • The chunky range (8 months+)

How many cubes are in a pouch?

  • The majority of the pouches contain 21 cubes (400g).
  • There are also a few smaller pouches which contain 10 cubes (200g). This will be indicated on the product description.
  • As you only need a few cubes per meal, each pouch contains several meals for your baby depending on their age and appetite.

How many cubes should I give?

  • When starting solids start with 1-2 cubes at a time.
  • As your baby’s appetite grows, you can increase the number of cubes.
  • The cube concept limits wastage as you only heat the number of cubes you require.

How should the cubes be stored?

  • Cubes can be stored for 2 months if stored correctly.
  • Keep frozen below -18°C.
  • Once the pouch has been opened ensure that the seal is closed when placed back in the freezer.

What if I can’t decide on a flavour?

  • If you are struggling to decide which flavour to buy, there are also sample packs available on request.
